--------------------------------------------------------------
Israel was as culturally diverse as any place I have
been. Entering through Tele Aviv, a highly developed
urban city, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, it was
teeming with beaches, bars and discotheques.
I traveled north to Haifa, and then southward through
Nazareth, Jericho and onto Jerusalem.
Jerusalem was a virtual melting pot of the worlds major religions and
again revealed how culturally diverse and densely populated the region
was.
My fascination continued as we traveled again southward, through Beersheba
and onto the Negev Desert, where biblical history places
Moses and the Hebrew tribes wanderings for 40 years. Unlike any desert
I had seen or imagined it was truly the embodiment of wilderness.
