--------------------------------------------------------------
Kenya, by far is the most beautiful of all the places
I've been. Standing on the southern plains a few hundred miles north of
Tanzania, I watched elephants, lions, and giraffe share
grazing fields in harmony. The peace and tranquility of the rolling grass,
stroked by a gentle breeze quickly put ones mind at ease, and suggested
that this must have been the way it was thousands of years ago.
Nairobi, our point of entry into Kenya, was totally
the opposite. The small cramped quarters of the international airport,
which seemed to be substandard at best, the crowded city streets dotted
with plush hotels, and resorts surrounded by armed guards. The thickly
populated urban areas that were permeated by an odor that was sometimes
nauseating. All of this was in stark contrast to the southern plains,
which were stunningly beautiful and ever so peaceful.
